A newborn photoshoot by Andrea Edwards Photography takes place at my lovely home studio in Dudley, West Midlands; this is where we create lasting memories of these first days of your baby’s life.
If you’ve arrived at this page, it’s likely because you are either eagerly anticipating the arrival of your new baby or have already welcomed your little one into the world. What a beautiful way to cherish these unforgettable first weeks than by capturing them with their very own newborn photography session! These precious images will become treasured memories you’ll look back on for years to come.
Typically, a newborn photoshoot is ideal for babies between approximately 5 and 21 days old. During this stage, babies naturally curl into those adorable, snug positions and are more likely to stay asleep for longer stretches. This allows me to create those iconic, sleepy newborn poses that parents love. However, if your baby is slightly older, don’t worry—there’s still plenty of opportunity to create some truly special images for you.
As babies grow a bit older, I shift the focus to highlight their captivating “awake” poses. These sessions beautifully showcase their stunning, wide-open eyes and heartwarming little smiles, ensuring that every image is just as magical and memorable as the next.
HOW IT WORKS
Newborn Photoshoot
You can book your newborn photoshoot as soon as you know your due date, which is typically determined during your first scan session. At this point, I will schedule a tentative date in my diary for around two weeks after your due date. Since we all know that it’s rare for babies to arrive exactly on schedule, I only take on a limited number of these sessions. This allows me the flexibility to reschedule your appointment if necessary, ensuring you don’t miss out on capturing these precious early moments.

ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL
Andrea photographed our daughter when she was just a week old. The whole shoot was professional but laid back and Andrea put us immediately at ease. Our little girl was very wriggly and but Andrea had loads of patience and was really flexible with backgrounds / outfits / props, etc. The photos turned out absolutely beautiful and are a lovely memory of our tiny newborn. I would highly recommend Andrea!

BEAUTIFUL
Andrea photographed my son when he was 2 weeks old. He wasn’t your typical sleepy newborn so took him a fair amount of time to actually fall asleep even after feeding. She was incredibly patient with him and very accommodating to us all as I ended up needing to take 2 of my older children with me (one of whom was a very boisterous 2 year old). Thank you Andrea, the photos were beautiful.
YOUR newborn photoshoot QUESTIONS
When should I book my newborn photoshoot?
It’s never too early. Once you know your due date we can pencil you in 10-14 days after this date. If your baby comes early or late please keep in touch and we will reschedule accordingly.
What happens if my baby won’t settle for the newborn photoshoot?
Your little one’s happiness is my number one priority. If for any reason your baby is too fussy to complete the photoshoot on the day, I will happily reschedule at no cost.
Do I need to do anything to prepare my baby for the photoshoot?
A guide to your newborn shoot will be emailed prior to the session with information of what to expect on the day.
Can Dad and/or older siblings be included in some of the newborn photos?
Absolutely! However it is best if they can come at the end of the session so I can keep the environment calm and concentrate on your newborn.
